10th Anniversary Season

The St. Catherine of Siena Drama Club, an after school activity for students in the Junior High, has been an entertaining and educational part of the school. Under the coordination of Junior High teacher, Michael Miller, the Drama Club has trained numerous actors, actresses, and stage crew members throughout the years. The school and parish community add to the production of each school by providing funds, carpenters, artists, costume designers, and choreographers to each performance.

IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE!

Thursday, December 4th @ 7 pm
Friday, December 5th @ 7 pm
Saturday, December 6th @ 7 pm
Sunday, December 7th @ 1:30 pm

Welcome back to another year of the St. Catherine of Siena Drama Club! The Drama Club is proud to do another Christmas-themed production, the winter classic, It’s A Wonderful Life!

Mr. Michael Miller will be directing the production once again. With the success of the Winter One-Acts: Volume 3, previous shows and the dedication of all of those junior high students who will audition for this year’s show, the Drama Club’s 12th production will surely entertain and awe.

Auditions for It’s A Wonderful Life will be held August 28th and call-backs will be the following day, August 29th. Students and parents must complete the registration form attached to this letter by Wednesday, August 27th to get onto the audition list. If the student is chosen for a role in the production, parents must pay the $100 registration fee within one week of receiving the part or the part will be given to another Drama member. The registration fee will go directly toward the production costs of the show. The student must make a full commitment to the Drama Club, especially to rehearsals.

As many know, the Drama Club rehearsals can be very demanding and I suggest that a struggling student in academics not join the group. If a student falls into academic probation after a report card period (refer to the Parent-Student Handbook), they will not be allowed to perform. There will be no refund of the registration fee. Last year, we also had many issues with sports practices taking precedence over Drama rehearsals. Much has been done to schedule rehearsals around practices and afterschool daycare so there is little conflict. However, students must understand that every minute in rehearsal is precious and full attention and dedication is required.

Please view the attached rehearsal dates and time and determine whether no or little conflicts occur. There is going to be very little change to this schedule. If there is significant disruption between schedules – my suggestion is for the student to not participate in the production. The complexity of the show may become overwhelming if a student had to balance too many commitments. Students will receive a more detailed rehearsal schedule after auditions.

If you have any questions regarding the SC Drama Club, please email me.

A Note for Students

As many know, the Drama Club rehearsals can be very demanding and I suggest that a struggling student in academics not join the group. If a student falls below a "C" in any class or receives a "3" or lower on conduct or effort on either a progress report or report card or receive more than 3 detentions in the 1st quarter, they will not be allowed to audition or perform. Last year, we also had many issues with sports practices taking precedence over Drama rehearsals. The Drama Club producers and directors can no longer accept this. If a student is excessively tardy to rehearsal (more than 3 times) or has 3 unexcused absences, they will be asked to leave the Drama Club. There will be no refund of the registration fee.
